How to Play Fortnite on Chromebook

Fortnite is one of the most popular games in the world, and it’s only getting bigger. The Battle Royale mode has drawn more than 200 million players and counting, and a lot of them are looking for ways to play on their Chromebooks. Luckily, Fortnite can be installed through the Google Play Store on all Chromebooks running Chrome OS 70 or newer. If you want to get into the action right away without having to wait for Epic Games to release an official Chrome OS app, this guide will show you how.

Install Fortnite on your Chromebook using the Google Play Store

To install Fortnite on your Chromebook, you’ll need to download the app from the Google Play Store. This is easy; just search for “Fortnite” in the store and click on it.

Once you’ve clicked on “Install,” installation takes a few seconds. Once it’s done installing, open up the app and sign in with your Google account information (if prompted).

How to buy the battle pass

The battle pass can be found in the menu, under the “Battle Pass” tab. You’ll have to spend V-Bucks to buy it, and there’s no way around that. Once you’ve purchased it, you’ll have access to all of its rewards instantly!

Picking your mode

In the main menu, you can select which mode you want to play. You can also do this in settings. If there’s a specific mode that catches your eye, feel free to try it out! If not, stick with whatever works for you at first and then switch over later when you’re ready for something different.

In case you’re wondering what the difference between “solo” and “duo,” here’s some info from the Fortnite Wiki:

  • Solo Mode: This is where players compete against computer-controlled opponents (AI).
  • Duo Mode: Two-player teams battle against other players online or AI opponents in squads of four total players per matchmaking session

Finding a match

  • In the bottom-left corner of your screen, look for a button labeled “Matchmaking.”
  • Click on this button to open up the matchmaking interface.
  • Select from one of three options: Solo, Duo or Squad (you can also select Random if you’re feeling adventurous).
  • Wait for other players to join your game and then start playing!

Use a controller if you’re feeling brave

If you’re feeling adventurous (and have a controller plugged in), go ahead and try playing Fortnite on your Chromebook with a controller. The game supports most major brands of hardware, including the Xbox One S, Xbox One X, PS4 DualShock 4 Controller and even Nintendo Switch Joy-Con Controllers.

If you don’t have an appropriate controller handy, there’s no need to worry–you can still play Fortnite on your Chromebook using touch controls instead!

What do you think?

You’ve made it to the end of this guide, and you’re now ready to play Fortnite on your Chromebook.
